Description This document was written for SGSL's disaster recovery standby database. It covers setting up and maintaining a standby database. It was specifically written for a business critical database, but can be used as a guide for installing and maintaining any Oracle Standby database. Using a standby database is a common way of maintaining a DR version of a production database that runs in archive log mode. But there are many other ways of maintaining DR environment, including hardware replication and full Oracle database replication.
